Game Review

Richmond's frustration at never having beaten Carlton since their admission to the VFL was nearing fever pitch. A strong wind blew across the ground which made the player's anticipation of the ball difficult. The Blues kicked with the slight advantage of the wind in the first quarter. In the first half the Blues looked the better side and missed a few easy chances to goal. After half time the Tigers kept the Blues goaless in the third term, and had reduced Carlton's lead from 17 points to only 5 points. The visitors hit the front early in the final quarter and could finally sniff victory. Richmond constantly attacked, but Ted Brown held them out on a few of their forward thrusts. Jack Lowe, on the wing, then got the ball to Stan McKenzie who goaled to put Carlton ahead with 10 minutes remaining. The crowd was on edge and the football was fiercly contested. Richmond attacked and Kerrigan had a shot for goal as the siren sounded. The ball was kicked long and low, and was just touched on the goal line to allow Carlton to win the game by 2 points.

At the end of this round Carlton were in 5th spot on the ladder with a percentage of 125.1.
