Game Review

The Blues were a dominant outfit on our way to consecutive flags.

The brilliant Peter Bosustow was unstoppable in this game as he scored 8 goals as well as taking three screamers.

Carlton rover Rod Ashman polled one vote to keep the lead in the Inside Football Player of the Year award. Another great display, as Carlton downed South Melbourne at Princes Park last Saturday, earned Ashman his vote. Blues forward Peter Bosustow gained maximum votes in this match. He took several "screamers" and capped off an inspired performance with eight goals. - Inside Football Player of the Year.

Brilliant Bosustow
Jack Dyer's "very good ordinary player", Carlton's Peter Bosustow, is starting to prove his critics wrong. Bosustow had his fair share of critics in WA before moving to Victoria this year. They claimed he was too inconsistent to succeed in the VFL. Respected Victorian critics such as Jack Dyer and Bob Davis also doubted Bosustow's ability to handle the pressures of VFL football. I must admit that I was a little sceptical. However i'm now having second thoughts, especially after Bosustow's brillant eight goal display against South Melbourne last Saturday.

There's no doubt that Bosustow has added considerable bite to Carlton's forward line this season. The Blues no longer have to rely solely on Mark Maclure up forward for their goalscoring power. Bosustow has given them another lively avenue to goal. The critics still aren't entirely convinced Bosustow will make the grade in the VFL. But if he can maintain his current form for the rest of the season, all doubts about him will surely disappear. - Doug Wade Inside Football.

Carlton's star Western Australian recruit Peter Bosustow showed why the Blues fought so hard to secure him, with a devasting display of forward play against South Melbourne on Saturday. Bosustow, who was chased by nearly every league club before joining Carlton this year, thrilled Blues supporters with his aerial acrobactics against South. He pulled down several breathtaking marks and booted eight fine goals in a top class effort. South Melbourne had no answer to Bosustow's brand of brillance and he paved the way for Carlton's mammoth 99 point victory. - Tony Greenberg Inside Football
