Game Review

Richmond had been Carlton's bogey team in recent years, and after the Blues jumped away with a five goals to one first quarter, it looked like we might finally turn the tables. In the second and third terms the Tigers fought to narrow the lead, and had reduced the deficit to 13 points by the final break.

Richmond came out on fire at the start of the last quarter, kicking three goals from eight shots at goal in the first eight minutes of the term. The Tigers had finally taken the lead for the first time in the day, and went on to destroy the Blues with the next five majors. Crisp kicked two late goals for Carlton, but the damage had been done. The Strang brothers starred for Richmond, taking 27 marks between them. Both were listed in their team's best players, with Doug Strang kicking 7 goals.
