Game Review
A severe hailstorm swept over the ground in the morning, followed by a cold, cutting westerly wind, which kept crowds away.
Despite being held scoreless in the last quarter, the Blues would triumph over Collingwood.
"After the interval, when the teams re-entered the field, one was struck with the magnificent physique of Carlton. A perfect combination of height, weight, and litheness. Carlton have always held that goood big man is better than a good little man, and the executive ranges far and wide in their search for recruits with strength and pace."
"Turning to individuals, one has little hesitation in naming McGregor, of Carlton as the best player on the ground. It was sweet to see him dip for the ball when at top pace, twist and turn like an eel, and send it on from the centre with a long skimming kick." (Referee June 28 1916)
At the end of this round Carlton were in 1st spot on the ladder with a percentage of 137.4.
