Game Review

The flags at Carlton were flying at half mast out of respect for former player George Smith who died last week. George went to Richmond and became their inaugral captain in 1885.
Last-placed Geelong hadn't won a game thus far, so perhaps the Blues were a little complacent. But the Pivotonians came to play, and the home side was challenged all the way before scraping home by 12 points.
Carlton climbed into the top four after this win, behind Fitzroy, Collingwood and Essendon, but compared to the top three, our percentage of 85.82 was very poor.

At the end of this round Carlton were in 4th spot on the ladder with a percentage of 85.8.
