Margaret Mangels

An interesting award was granted in the Under 19s between 1970 and 1973 as the 'The Margaret Mangels Trophy':

* sister of Bob Chitty:
* grand mother of Alan Mangels (Junior Carlton senior player in the 1970's before going to Geelong in 1980); and
* mother of Alan 'Alby' Mangels senior who was a Carlton U19s premiership captain in 1948-49).

Margaret was one of the ladies that assisted in preparing refreshments etc to the players at their 'home' matches and continued helping with the social activities for many years from at least 1957 and was probably also involved when her son Alan senior was playing in the Under 19s in the late 1940's.
