Son of premiership captain and club icon Don, Doug Scott was controversailly selected by Hawthorn in the 2003 pre-season draft on the strength of a solid year in key defensive posts at Box Hill. Doug was not blessed with tremendous football ability, but his desire and workrate was first class. Scott missed nearly all of 2004 with an ankle injury after complications with the injury. After another series of injuries in 2005 he was delisted without playing a senior game.

Doug Scott left Hawthorn and transferred to Karingal FC from Hawthorn at the end of Season 2005 and has been a standout both years for the Bulls, especially at the back half, where he won the competition's best and fairest award.
