Barney Thompson

Victorian Football Association
Games: 8 - 9
Goals: 1
Career: 1892 - 1893

Another player about which little is known.
Volume 5 of "Origins of Australian Football has these brief details on Barney that we have included here.
Perhaps his match details have been included with Arthur Thompson who was in the Carlton team around the same time.

Newspaper match reports generally only mentioned the surnames, so some further investigation is required.

1892 August 13
The Herald ( p1) in the report of the Carlton v Footscray match says;
"Barney Thompson put in a lot of half work for Carlton, greatly assisting in getting the leather out of their territory."
Only one Thompson was named in the Carlton team that day, on the half back flank.
